Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, this position is responsible for managing a group of supervisors ensuring on time service while reducing costs and provide guidance for the Toronto Drivers. The candidate will have industry experience, preferably within a unionized environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations in the P & D Dispatch Department.
Leads and inspires the City Dispatch Team to achieve operational goals and KPIs.
Planning and forecasting of P & D schedules while improving driver stops per hour & reducing overtime.
Ensure that service levels meet and or exceed the needs of our customers
Lead team to implement AI driven Routing/Dispatching Software and provide training and support for all dispatchers, router and drivers.
Conduct review of service challenges and build and implement corrective actions to improve service.
Collaborate with Dock Operations and the Linehaul Team to identify operational efficiencies and effect change as necessary in order to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and cost efficiencies.
Recruit, mentor, and lead by example a group of dispatch supervisors.
Recruit, manage and guide a group of City and Highway Drivers.
Work with Safety and Compliance to maintain driver files & implementing discipline as necessary
Lead City Supervisors in scheduling of equipment for maintenance and repairs.
Ensure Drivers follow Company Safety Policies and Procedures for example: HOS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, etc
Hold daily driver meetings to provide training and feedback on customer challenges.
Completion of daily reports

Required Skills:
Minimum 2 years management experience in a transportation dispatch environment
Strong leadership and management skills
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
Customer service oriented
Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
Highly computer literate in implementing new operation systems, and proficient with excel
Ability to work flexible hours (afternoons, evenings and weekends) as necessary
High School or equivalent
Ministry of Transportation regulations
Knowledge of Transportation Operating Systems
