We are looking for Dispatch Supervisor for both City and Linehaul department for vacation relief.
Your role:
Reporting to the Dispatch and Linehaul Manager, this position is responsible for managing a group of Linehaul and P&D drivers. The Dispatch Supervisor will be expected to plan and organize driver routes on a daily basis to service our customers. implement the operational logistics of the organization, establish work schedules/procedures, resolve work-related issues, and coordinate with other departments where necessary. The Dispatch Supervisor will also be required to lead, direct and coach a group of city and highway drivers. Will also follow up with any customer or driver concerns and provide a resolution.
Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations of a group of city drivers, as well as assist with Linehaul dispatch duties,
Planning and forecasting of city routes based on pick-up and delivery volumes.
Providing direction to assigned group of company drivers, 3rd Party Carriers and Owner operators across Canada/ Cross Border/ USA and coordinating with SAIA Gateways.
Ensure that service levels meet and or exceed the needs of our customers,
Review issues with the drivers (safety concerns, customer complaints, service failures, etc.), holding drivers accountable for their performance.
Scheduling P&D and Highway drivers based on daily volumes (cancel P&D and Highway bids and/or schedule agency drivers as required).
Authorization of payroll and driver overtime (Start times/Waiting Time/No Lunch/Extra Miles/Trip Sheet Audit) and also authorizing and processing of payroll and driver overtime (Start times/No Lunch/Audit Daily Performance, empty miles, waiting time, overtime, out-route miles, 3rd Party carrier)
Call outside agents, outsource work when business needs demand, and contact 3rd party carriers dependent on rates and outsource work when business needs arise,
Review operational efficiencies and effect change as necessary to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and cost efficiencies (Stops per hour/Waiting Time/Overtime)
Communicate professionally with internal and external customers to resolve service issues in a timely manner and provide customers with status updates,
Schedule repairs and maintenance for equipment and monitor equipment sitting at the customer yards.
Ensure the drivers follow Company Safety Policies and Procedures (HOS, MTO, TDG, CBA, CLC, Speeding and Idling etc.)
Customs compliance, including setting up ACI and ACE, setting up bonds, FDA, etc., to avoid penalties and fines.
KPIs include but are not limited to On-Time Delivery, stops per Hour, Overtime and Waiting Time.
Coordinating vehicle accidents and/or incidents involving company employees and equipment (Accident or incident report/ Police Report/ Rescue Plan/ WSIB witness statements, etc.)
Other duties as reasonably assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum three years supervisory experience in a transportation dispatch environment,
Knowledge of Transportation Operating Systems (AS400, ELDs)
Knowledge of MTO, DG, DOT, and CLC Regulations
Strong leadership and management skills,
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills,
Customer service oriented,
Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks,
Professional verbal and written communication skills in English (bilingual in French is an asset),
Computer literate with sound knowledge of Gmail and Excel,
Ability to work flexible hours (afternoons, evenings and weekends) as necessary,
High School Education or equivalent (Post-Secondary education in a related field is considered an asset),
Knowledge of MTO, DG, DOT, and CLC Regulations
Knowledge of Transportation Operating Systems (AS400, ELDs)
